Frequently asked questions about InternetEdit and PayPal If you don't yet have a PayPal account If you don't have a PayPal account, you will need to open one. To open a new account, go to http://www.paypal.com and follow the instructions provided there. About InternetEdit service and PayPal account verification In some cases, InternetEdit may require you to 'verify' your PayPal account before InternetEdit can accept payment from you. PayPal verification ensures that you are authorized to use the credit card you have used to open your PayPal account (in effect, ensuring that you are actually you). This step is required because your revised document (or other InternetEdit work product) is delivered to you over the Internet. Since you receive the work online, there is no 'sign on delivery' step to ensure that you're the authorized card holder. To verify your account, log into the PayPal website and click on the Profile tab. Use PayPal's Verify option to begin the verification process. Follow the instructions provided on the website. Typically, PayPal will charge your credit card a very small amount (a few cents) or deposit a very small amount into your bank account. You then check your credit or bank statement to find out exactly what the amount was, and you enter that amount into the appropriate Verification screen on the PayPal site. This confirms that you are authorized to use your card, since you have access to your statements. Once your account is verified, InternetEdit will be able to send you an invoice for prepayment. TIP: If you have an option to verify against your credit card instead of your bank account, use it. Typically, transactions will post on your credit card statement immediately. Updates to your bank statement may take several days, delaying the completion of your verification and possibly delaying your access to InternetEdit services. Making payment Once you have opened and verified your account, let InternetEdit know by replying to the quote that was emailed to you from the helpdesk. InternetEdit will then send you an invoice by email. The invoice includes a link or button that will open a payment page on the PayPal website. If you are not set up for automatic login, you see a payment page.
Click on the Login Now button on the payment screen, log in to your PayPal account, and then click here. If you are set up to log in automatically on your computer, you jump straight to a login page.
If you see the Member Log In screen, enter your PayPal password and click on the Continue button. Once you log into your PayPal account, the Money Request Details screen appears, showing you information about the payment request.
Click on the Pay button. The Pay Money Request screen appears.
The Add Funds screen appears.
If you already have a credit card associated with your account, you do not need to use this screen. If you have a bank account linked to PayPal, you can transfer money to PayPal to make your Nocturne payment by clicking on the Transfer Funds option. (You will have to return to the portal in several days to complete the payment, however.) To make payment using a credit card, link the credit card to PayPal by clicking on the Profile tab and, in the screen that appears, clicking on the Credit Cards option.
Follow the instructions that appear to enter your credit card information and complete your payment. PayPal verification FAQ Why can't I have you ship me the files on a CD as well as online, so I can sign for them instead of verifying my PayPal account? Unfortunately, not every request InternetEdit receives comes from ethical, honest people, and InternetEdit needs to protect its editors from any attempts at fraud. If files are shipped to a customer on CD and the customer is asked to sign for them, the customer may decide to refuse delivery (since the files have already been delivered online). If a customer asks InternetEdit to ship the files on CD without delivering them online, the editors remain unprotected if the customer refuses delivery for any reason (since the work has already been completed, and unlike off-the-shelf products cannot be resold). For these reasons, we cannot bypass the verification requirement by shipping your work to you on physical media. Can InternetEdit help me get my PayPal account verified? Our helpdesk will try to help you, but we do not have any special access to the PayPal system and typically will ask you to contact PayPal directly using the Contact Us option on the PayPal website. PayPal provides different verification options to different users (we don't know why), and you may see different buttons and instructions depending on your user profile. The best thing to do if you are having problems verifying your account is to call PayPal's support number and get help. Why can't I give you my credit card information over the phone? InternetEdit is not able to directly verify that you are actually the authorized user of the credit card. PayPal's verification process allows us to verify your identity online when required. For this reason, InternetEdit now uses PayPal exclusively for its credit card payment processing. I don't want to verify my PayPal account. I'm not comfortable with this process. Unfortunately, if you have been asked to verify your PayPal account by InternetEdit, we have been unable to use other methods to verify your identity. If you choose not to verify your account, InternetEdit will be unable to offer you immediate service. I really can't get PayPal to work. What are my options? If you can't get PayPal to work, your options for immediate service are very limited. You can:
Before trying any of these options, contact InternetEdit for detailed instructions.
