Why trust InternetEdit We understand that you may be worried about doing business with a company over the Internet. It can be frustrating and worrisome, and perhaps even dangerous. You're giving your confidential information and documentation to strangers who you'll never meet and never see face-to-face, and who may even live in a different country. (We're based in Canada.)
The simplest thing to do would be to give you reference checks from past customers. Unfortunately, we have a strict confidentiality and privacy policy that protects not only you but all our past customers, which means we aren't allowed to give out names and email addresses. (And even if we did, there would be no way to know that you weren't being spoofed.) So that doesn't work. However, we can offer the following reassurances and options to help you decide whether we're a safe bet: Our Internet history InternetEdit has been in continuous operation since 2003, and its parent company Nocturne Communications has been around in various forms for over fifteen years. Google us and see what you find. (As far as we know, no one is saying anything bad about us!) Our rates of customer satisfaction are high, and we see a lot of return business. We also see a lot of referrals from institutions such as Nova University, University of Phoenix Online, and Royal Roads University. Use of PayPal for credit card payments Even though it can be a little frustrating for first-time users, PayPal offers a secure, standardized method of payment that protects your credit card from unauthorized use. With PayPal, InternetEdit never even sees your credit card number. Instead, we send you an online money request, which you receive in your inbox. You then click on a link in the money request to go to the PayPal website and complete payment. All InternetEdit receives is a notification from PayPal telling us that you made payment. Only PayPal gets to see your credit card. (And PayPal's been around long enough to have proven itself as one of the safest payment methods available online.) Face-to-face by videconference If you're a corporate customer or an individual customer who qualifies for a long-term account, we're happy to have an introductory videoconference with you to give you an informal talk about our services, and to give face-to-face answers to any questions you might have. We support all common desktop videoconferencing modes. (You need to schedule the meeting with us, however, since we don't all work online all the time.) Email us for more information. Formal prevalidation If you qualify, we can take additional steps to 'prevalidate' InternetEdit service for you. This gives you a chance to kick the tires and make sure we're the right service for you. If you're a company that expects to have continuous editing or documentation support requirements, an individual wishing to establish an account, or simply a new and nervous customer, consider requesting one of the following prevalidation options: Sample edits of your material In some cases we may be able to perform a sample edit of documents or content. If you request and qualify for a sample edit, we will perform an edit on a small section of your content (typically one or two paragraphs for each representative section of content) to demonstrate our process and the effectiveness of our editing service. This helps you ensure that our service will meet your needs. (However, it also means that the time from request to completion of your full edit will be longer.) If you would like a sample edit of your content, email us for more information. Staged delivery If you have a large document or section of content that requires editing, we may be able to deliver the revisions in sections. This allows you to see the edit in progress, and request either changes in delivery or a 'stop work', if the revisions do not meet your needs. Process review This option is available only to qualified corporate customers. A process review involves a detailed audit of our processes to ensure that they meet your requirements. A process review may be part of a simple due diligence review, or it may include integration into your own process engineering or ISO certification. Opt-in references In some cases, for some customers, we may be able to put you in touch with a past customer who is able to vouch for our service. This is possible only if we have a previous customer who has some connection to you (for example, works at the same company, or attends the same institution), and if that customer is willing to make contact with you. If you request this option and we find a matching customer, we then email that customer and ask them if they would be willing to contact you to provide information about their experience with our service. Since we only do this with past customers who themselves have qualified for promotional discounts, and since many past customers may not be immediately accessible by email (or willing to talk to strangers), this is usually not an option. But if you work for a big company or go to a large school, it doesn't hurt to ask. Conditions associated with prevalidation Prevalidation usually involves some risk and cost for InternetEdit. Due to these overheads, InternetEdit does not offer formal prevalidation to all customers. Please be aware that once InternetEdit prevalidation is performed, the following restrictions usually apply during a 'probationary' period that typically lasts 1-3 months:
