The title page also includes a single-line entry called a Running Head, left aligned near the top of the page. Contrary to its name, the Running Head doesn't run through the document. It is a short version of the document title (and can be different from the short title that appears in the page header). It has a maximum length of 50 characters. The full title of the document appears towards the top or middle of the page, and is center-aligned. Underneath the full title, additional lines contain the author names and affiliations, the professor's name (if applicable), the class identifier (if applicable), and the date of publication or submission. The page after the title page contains the document abstract (if one is required). The abstract is a single paragraph or short body of text that provides a summary of the document contents. The abstract is intended for use in document extracts and is treated like an index by search engines.
